Gold Sovereign
A Gold Sovereign is a gold coin first issued in 1489 for Henry VII of England
and still in production as of 2008.While the coin typically had a nominal value
of one pound sterling or 20 shillings, the sovereign was primarily an official piece
of bullion with no mark of value anywhere on the coin itself.
Gold Krugerrand
A Krugerrand is a South African, first minted in 1967 in order to help market
South African gold. The coins have legal tender status in South Africa but are not
actually intended to be used as currency, which is a reason it is regarded as being
one of the world's medal-coins.
Gold American Eagle
The American Gold Eagle is an official gold bullion coin of the United States. Authorized
under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, it was first released by the United States
Mint in 1986. Offered in 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz denominations, these
coins are guaranteed to contain the stated amount of actual gold weight in troy
ounces.
