Product Description

The word ducat is from Medieval Latin ducatus meaning “relating to a duke (or dukedom)”, and initially meant “duke’s coin” or a “duchy’s. The first gold ducats were produced in the year 1140 and are thought to be one of the oldest bullion coins. The One Ducat coin features the House of Habsburg’s coat of arms whilst the reverse features Franz Joseph I who was born in 1848, and died in 1916. This coin contains 3.14g of fine gold. The coin is a great addition to any coin collector’s collection.
